We were recently trying to remember how Phil got the name, 'Phil in PV'.  It has become his official title now and we are noticing that a great deal of our mail is signed in a similar style.  'Doug in Salt Lake', 'John in NYC' and 'Larry in Seattle' are a few examples.  Perhaps this has become a fishing thing like saying 'Tight Lines'.  Anyhow, this is Phil in PV's latest fishing report and the month of May turned out to be quite a surprise for all of us.

MARLIN IN MAY YOU SAY?

Absolutely!  The first few were hooked mid month, and it just got better.  The water was still fairly cool for the Blues but they started showing up at El Banco early in May.  At first they were not taking the bait.  Finally the STRIKE ONE brought in a 600 pounder and this was a good omen of the season to come.

If you have ever fished on the STRIKE ONE, you will recognize Bill Peterson, a colorful 6 1/2 foot character who never fails to greet his anglers in the early morning with wise words of wisdom and sometimes little comments on what he may do to them if they deposit tissues in the head.  No reported casualties yet but after meeting this big guy in the pre dawn hours, no one would even consider doing such a dastardly deed.  Actually, Bill Peterson is a boat owner who truly cares about each charter on the STRIKE ONE and goes a step beyond to accommodate everyone.  We never hesitate to recommend this boat, she is always maintained to perfection and  ANY day spent on the STRIKE ONE is unforgettable.

This Marlin was caught by James Roden from Denver and the photo will go into the STRIKE ONE Hall of Fame as the first of the 2002 season.  Looks like Bill, Captain Hector and Mates Salvador and Jose are going to have another fantastic year.  Congratulations.

Name that Tune fans?  Okay, a little hint.  Billy Joel is the artist of choice for May.  Hate the music?  Turn off your speakers quickly.

For those of you who have followed the on-going drama of Phil's camera problems, they seem to be over.  Phil bought a $12 bottle of aftershave and a camera was included in the deal.  Most of the photos on this site were taken with this little gem, and it is not a disposable.  Chances are that Phil will not be able to destroy this one, he is only hard on expensive items.
